Celebrate Your Freedom!
|
I want to take a moment to day to talk about Freedom. While today is Independence Day, a day to celebrate freedom in this great country, there are many individuals who do not feel free. There are those who feel burdened by pressures, goals and deadlines. There are those who feel tied down by their environments or responsibilities. There are many who feel imprisoned by their own thoughts and feelings – or perhaps their past. I know because I’ve been there myself. Sometimes I still do feel burdened, tied down and imprisoned, but those moments are few and last mere seconds now. Why? Because I choose to be free.
Life is all about choices – and even if you’re feeling burdened by responsibilities, understand that you have a choice to take care of those responsibilities or let them go. Sometimes it may not feel like a choice, but that’s only because the alternative is something you’d prefer not to experience. Still, it’s a choice, and understanding that can empower you and lift the burden a bit.
If you feel imprisoned by your thoughts and feelings, take a moment to realize that you are in control of your thoughts and feelings. Yes, things happen, and you get to choose how to respond. That’s your freedom.
People don’t make you feel bad – you make yourself feel bad by agreeing with what people say. You don’t have to believe it. You can choose a different thought and create a better feeling. Try it. It works.
Free yourself from any shackles by embracing your choices. Every moment is a choice and every decision is the right decision – sometimes you simply get the opportunity to decide again if things didn’t turn out as you planned or desired. Choose to learn from what happened, and take advantage of the freedom you have to try again.
If your past is poisonous, stop drinking from the cup. Dump it out and fill it up with future possibilities instead. You get to decide, you get to be free.
Celebrate your freedom. Celebrate yourself. And all along the way, remember to Enjoy the Journey!
